Carfax Hotel

Centrally located, the Carfax Hotel is an ideal base from which to work or explore one of Europe's oldest and finest cities. The celebrated architect Thomas Baldwin created Great Pulteney Street in 1789, using the famous honey-coloured Bath Stone. Today, the hotel still retains many beautiful original Georgian features, with large rooms with high ceilings and large sliding sash windows. There are 31 uniquely furnished and individually heated rooms, all of which are en suite with either a bath or shower, or more often both. A continental buffet breakfast and a full traditional cooked English breakfast is included in the price. There is also a computer for public use in the hotel’s lounge, which is free of charge. Parking is available on a limited, first-come, first-served basis. There is a private car park at the rear of the hotel, which works on a first-come, first-served basis. There are 11 parking places and parking is free to all guests. The hotel also has a number of permits for resident-zone on-street parking in bays around the hotel. Alternatively, should you want to guarantee parking, the hotel has two lock-up garages for hire at an additional cost per night. The Carfax Hotel currently holds a Mobility Level 2 certificate from VisitBritain. This means that the hotel is defined as “typically suitable for a person with restricted walking ability and for those that may need to use a wheelchair some of the time and can negotiate a maximum of three steps.” One of the ground-floor rooms is suitable for wheelchair use on this basis and is fitted with bathroom supports and a walk-in shower. The hotel does offer luggage storage and guests are welcome to check in from 08:00 on the day of arrival and leave luggage with reception. However, bedrooms may not be available until after room servicing has concluded around 15:00.

By Train/Coach: Bath Spa Railway Station and the main Bus station are about 15-20 minutes' flat walk away from the hotel. The walking route passes the Abbey, the Parade Gardens and Pulteney Bridge. If you have heavy cases there is a busy taxi rank outside the train station.

Roman Baths

The stunning roman remains over Bath's natural hot springs is one of those must sees of any trip to England. The remains give a vivid impression of life nearly 2000 years ago under Roman occupation.

Pump Rooms

Above the Roman Baths Temple, designed by Thomas Baldwin (the same guy that designed Carfax!), this elegant building became a popular meeting place in the C18. Today you can take afternoon tea to the accompaniment of the Pump Room Trio.

Royal Crescent

The grandest of Bath's many Georgian crescents, the Royal Crescent was built by John Wood the Younger between 1767 and 1774. It consists of thirty elegant mansions of freestone, uniformly built. Breathtakingly a 'Must See'.

Fantastic permenant exhibits of 18th centuary clothing, and internationally acclaimed changing exhibitions of many stlyes and periods.

There is one family suite, consisting of one room with a double bed and one adjoin room with a twin bed. The two rooms are linked by a door and share a private bath, shower and toilet. This suite is designed for family use, so be aware that the rooms are smaller and on the third floor, but the suite may also be used by adults.
