Staindrop Lodge was built in 1806 by Geprge Newton who named it after the village of Staindrop in County Durham where he was born. September 2002 saw Staindrop Lodge reopen after more than two years of major building refurbishment work. Now a landmark bar, brasserie and hotel, influenced by art-deco design movement, we have created a quality of service and an informal, comfortable ambience is a paramount prerequisite.

Motorway - From the south, take the m1 to junction 35. Turn left to Chapeltown and continue straight over the first roundabout. At the next mini roundabout take the second exit signposted to Highgreen. Continue over the hill and the hotel is on the right hand side. From the north, take the m1 to junction 36 and take 2nd exit signposted A616 towards Sheffield,exit on left signposted to Highgreen and follow the road to the mini roundabout. Take the first exit and follow the road for 1 mile, the hotel is on the left hand side. Sheffield City Centre - Follow signs to Meadowhall and then to the m1 and pick up the motorway heading north to junction 35. Turn left to Chapeltown and continue straight over the first roundabout. At the next mini roundabout, take the second exit signposted to Highgreen. Continue over the hill and the hotel is on the right hand side.For any directions plaese call the hotel reception who will be happy to help you.

We had to carry luggage up and down three flights of steps (no bellboys)The view from the window left a lot to be desired, I am sure most of the rooms did not have the view we had (of the extremly large heating ducts) This is not too bad if you are there for one night, but we were there for almost a week. would have liked a bigger bed, less sports channels on the television."
