The Churchill Hotel

Built around 1827 and retaining many original features, all rooms at The Churchill are designed to offer convenience and comfort. All bedrooms merge contemporary style with the traditional qualities of the building. Indulge yourself with one of our superior suites, some with four-poster beds and spa baths. Offering locally sourced produce wherever possible, the hotel's Piano Restaurant boasts a great reputation for it's fine dining and refined ambiance. The Piano Bar is the perfect location to meet up with friends or for that pre-dinner drink. This luxurious, privately owned hotel is housed in a carefully preserved and sensitively renovated Georgian residence. Many of the building’s beautiful original features and characteristics have been thoughtfully retained and restored, yet the structure has also been sympathetically extended and thoroughly refurbished to integrate the contemporary comforts and facilities demanded by the discerning modern traveller. At the heart of the building is the atrium with its stunning, original, cantilever staircase and equally amazing bookcase. Here you can put your feet up with a good book or keep in touch, via the subtly concealed computers provided for your use. Access for disabled guests, wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility is provided, with a number of suitable rooms available. A lift offers access to 24 of the hotel’s 32 rooms.

By Car: From the M1 (northbound): - Exit the M1 at junction 32 onto the M18. - Exit the M18 at junction 2 for the A1(M). - Bear left onto the A1 (Aberford Bypass) and return to the A1(M). - Exit at junction 44 for the A64. - Exit the A64 for the A19 (towards York). - Bear right onto Cemetery Road. - Bear left onto Foss Islands Road. - Bear left at Jewbury. - Continue on and turn left at Gillygate. - Turn right at Bootham, where the hotel is situated. Please ask for specific directions when booking. We will send a map with your confirmation.

How to Book

You may book as many rooms as you like for any dates that you need. Once you have made your reservation, you will receive confirmation by email with our details and directions - all you need to do is turn up!

You will then need to select the dates you wish to stay for, and then go on to choose your rooms. You'll also need to provide us with your contact information and credit card details. Credit card details are required as a guarantee - your card is not charged until you finish your stay at the hotel.

How to cancel

If you need to cancel a booking please go to the cancellation page. After you have made a booking you will recieve a reservation confirmation e-mail with a link to this cancellation page. All you need to do is enter your email address - you will then be shown your current bookings. To cancel a booking follow the simple instructions. This will inform us of the cancellation, and send you a confirmation email. Please note a cancellation charge may apply, depending on how far in advance you make the cancellation.

Rooms

The same high quality as the already luxurious standard rooms but more spacious.

The family bedrooms are usually set up to accommodate 2 adults and one child but on request one additional folding bed can added to the bedroom.

The Prince of Wales suite is one of the most luxurious bridal rooms in York, featuring a half tester bed and antique furniture.

The first of our new top of the range 'luxury collection', available from 6th May 2008. Each bedroom gets its own unique design with bespoke furnishings. The varying features include handmade four-poster beds, copper and free standing baths plus walk in shower rooms. Photographs of these exciting rooms will start to appear on this site as work progresses.
