Bonningtons Bed and Breakfast

All rooms are located in our listed, converted barn, and are fully en suite; each room also has its own private entrance. Free station/airport transfers are available from 07:00 - 11:00, and from 16:00 - 21:00. Long term parking is also available. Continental breakfast is available at any time in our self service breakfast area. This is especially convenient for those guests that have early morning flights. A late check-in (after 23:00) can be offered (by prior arrangement). The precise age of Bonningtons is not known, however 1st records originate from the early 1600s, so it is likely that the house predates this by a few years indicating a very late 16th century or early 17th century property. It is now a grade II listed building with a number of key listed features. Records are not precise but at some stage the property was acquired by the Houblon's Hallingbury estate. Bonningtons itself was reportedly the home of the estate manager. The estate itself also included Hatfield Forest. It was Jacob Houblon that created the current lake to be found in the centre of the forest, some time around 1740. Jacobs son further enhanced the estate and forest around 1770 with the consultation of the famous landscaper Capability Brown adding further exotic trees and some areas opened up to improve the views. The lake itself was also altered at this time.

By Car: - Exit the M11 at junction 8. Make sure that you take the local exit (Bishops Stortford) not the A120 into the airport. - Take the B1256 exit from the M11 roundabout, signposted Takely. - After approximately 100 metres there is a petrol station on your left. Take the turning immediately opposite, signposted Great/Little Hallingbury. - Follow this country road for about 2.5 miles (around 5 minutes). - You will then come to a T-junction. Turn left onto the A1060 into Little Hallingbury. - After approximately 500 metres, the George pub will be on your left. - Take the small lane immediately to your right, this is Dell Lane. After 20 metres the hotel’s drive is on the right-hand side.

CANCELLATION POLICY: null COMMENTS: The transfer service operates either to/from the local railway station at Bishops Stortford or Stansted Airport. For a drop of in the morning the hours are between 07:00 and 11:00. After we open in the afternoon, we then offer a collection service which runs between 16:00 and 21:00. Please note that we do not operate multiple trips. For larger parties the maximum number that we can accommodate in our vehicle is 4 passengers. We do have a larger than average vehicle so we can usually accommodate snowboards etc. However it is best to mention and extraordinary requirements when booking so that we ensure that we operate our larger vehicle. Once you have collected your baggage and are ready for the collection/transfer you must call us by telephone and we will than agree the precise time and location with you.
