The bars offer a cosy atmosphere where you may enjoy a light lunch or in the evening sample the real traditional ales and many malt whiskies on offer. Dinner is also available in the evening, with a bar or à la carte restaurant menus available.
The hotel offers both room only and dinner or bed and breakfast rates. As the hotel is situated in the Troutbeck valley, it attracts a lot of walkers. Therefore dogs are also welcome at The Mortal Man (at an additional cost).

Directions
By car from the South:
- Take junction 36 off the M6 and follow the A591 through Windermere.
- Turn right at the mini-roundabout (signposted Kirkstone Pass).
- After 2.5 miles turn left for Troutbeck sign, then right at the T-junction at the top of the hill. The Mortal Man is 800 yards further on the right.
From the North (in good weather):
- Exit the M6 at junction 40 of the M6 and take the A66 west for Keswick.
- Turn left after one mile onto the A592.
- Follow this road alongside Ullswater and over Kirkstone Pass.
- At the base of the valley turn right, signed The Mortal Man. The hotel is situated 400 yards further on the left.

How to Book

You may book as many rooms as you like for any dates that you need. Once you have made your reservation, you will receive confirmation by email with our details and directions - all you need to do is turn up!
You will then need to select the dates you wish to stay for, and then go on to choose your rooms. You'll also need to provide us with your contact information and credit card details. Credit card details are required as a guarantee - your card is not charged until you finish your stay at the hotel.
How to cancel
If you need to cancel a booking please go to the cancellation page. After you have made a booking you will recieve a reservation confirmation e-mail with a link to this cancellation page. All you need to do is enter your email address - you will then be shown your current bookings. To cancel a booking follow the simple instructions. This will inform us of the cancellation, and send you a confirmation email. Please note a cancellation charge may apply, depending on how far in advance you make the cancellation.
