City Information
Nottingham is situated in the county of Nottinghamshire in the Midlands and has a population of around 300,000. Its central location, offers excellent transport links to other major cities in the UK and abroad.
A number of very old buildings remain in the city, including the 15th-century church of St Mary on High Pavement, a centuries-old cave system, Georgian town houses and several picturesque pubs. Some have medieval origins, including The Trip to Jerusalem at the foot of Castle Rock, reputedly the oldest pub in England. There are numbers cafe-bars and more than 100 pubs, clubs and restaurants in the centre. Students can enjoy a variety of the city's nightclubs, which are reputedly amongst the best in the country.
By air, East Midlands Airport is a 20 minute drive from the city centre. There are travel links from Nottingham to almost every city in the UK from Midland Train Station. By car it's pretty simple to get there, as it is by coach or bus. Nottingham lies on the M1 / A1 highways, and it's about 2 hours to London from town. One can get very reasonable coach tickets to London through National Express. Getting about in Nottingham is easy. There are loads of buses that go around the city centre, Nottingham City Transport Operated a very good and comprehensive local bus service.
